What happens when wire speed increases?
Higher wire speed can reduce cutting force per abrasive contact and improve chip removal, but it can also increase heat and wear if coolant and feed are not matched.
Can very high speed damage the process?
Yes. Excessive speed may increase vibration, heating, or premature abrasive loss. The useful range depends on machine rigidity, wheel design, wire diameter, and material.
How should wire speed be evaluated?
Evaluate it together with feed rate and surface quality. A fast cut is not successful if it creates chipping, poor roughness, excessive wire wear, or unstable kerf.
