Abrasive Behavior

Diamond Grit Retention FAQ

Diamond grit retention controls how long the wire can cut effectively.

What is diamond grit retention?

It is the ability of the plated bond layer to hold diamond abrasive during cutting. Good retention prevents premature grit pullout.

Why does diamond exposure matter?

If the grit is buried too deeply, the wire becomes less sharp. If it is not supported enough, it may detach under load.

How does poor retention appear in cutting?

It can show as shorter wire life, rising cutting force, unstable surface marks, lower cutting efficiency, or sudden deterioration after an initially good cut.
